The 21st Annual Conference of the Texas Rural Chief Appraisers, Inc. was held November 16 – 18, 2014 at the Omni Austin Hotel.
Among the conference presenters was Debbie Cartwright, of Olson& Olson, LLP, who participated in a panel entitled “Legal Update: Legislative Issues, Case Law, Problem Areas with the Methods and Assistance Program.”

The Gulf Coast Chapter of the Texas Association of Assessing Officers is hosting its Fall Seminar on Friday, October 31, at the Houston Yacht Club. Included in the list of speakers is Debbie Cartwright with Olson & Olson, LLP. In keeping with the Halloween theme of the seminar, Debbie’s topic is called “Legislative Dark Magic, Potions & Spells”—which translates into what the Texas Legislature may or may not do to property tax administration during its regular session next year. Other speakers will address customer service, dealer inventory, and tax collection best practices.”

O&O Attorney Jim Robinson speaks at 2014 International Association of Assessing Officers Conference
Olson & Olson, LLP’s attorney Jim Robinson spoke on “Deposition Techniques & Trends” at a 2-day conference hosted by the IAAO which was held June 5-6 at the University of Missouri- Kansas City (UMKC)’s School of Law. The conference also included sessions on trial advocacy, making the decision to go to trial, implications of Daubert & Frye, electronic evidence and the use of technology at trial. Training also included presentations, mock trial vignettes, video demonstrations, and panel discussions.
